1. Is Hitachi ID Password Manager only needed when I have to change my password?
No. That is ONLY ONE of the capabilities of this tool. You can also do the following:
- Setup/Modify your Hitachi ID security questions
- Unlock your Windows Account (incl. GRS and Cisco AnyConnect VPN)
- Unlock your Mincron Account
- Reset your Windows and Mincron passwords

2.1 In Windows 10, you will see the icon on the logon screen (Figure 1.0).

2.2 Enter your Windows Username and Windows Password when prompted
Tip: You can else enter your email address

2.3 Click on the blue box under Answer Security Questions (Password Manager will not take your password if you are already locked out)

Setting up your security questions
IMPORTANT NOTE: First time users will be prompted to complete the enrollment process (choose 2 security questions minimum). This step is MANDATORY. If you have already setup your Security Questions, please go to Step 5.
You can choose from several different questions via the dropdown menus. Once you have answered both questions, click “Update” to save your answers. The next time you login to Password Manager, you can use your Windows Password or answer the Security Questions to gain access.
Once you have completed the enrollment, click on the House icon to go back to the Suite menu.

2.4 Once logged in, select “Unlock accounts”.
Tip: If you are attempting to login using your Windows Password and it is NOT allowing you to login, select “Answer security questions” instead.

2.5 Check the box next to “Account” and press “Unlock”

2.6 Congratulations! Your accounts are now unlocked!

2.7 Log out from Hitachi by pressing the “Red X”, on the upper right-hand corner, and proceed to login to Windows.

2.8 Login to Hitachi ID Password Manager (as shown above), and click on “Change passwords”


2.9 Then click on “Change passwords”.
2.10 Log out from Hitachi by pressing the “Red X”, on the upper right-hand corner, and proceed to login to Windows.
3. Accessing Hitachi Password Manager from an Internet Browser
The direct link is https://pwm.gemaire.com/ . It can be accessed from any Internet browser (i.e. Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari), and any operating system including Windows OS, iOS and Android!
4. FAQ’S
- How many times can I enter my Windows/Mincron/GRS/Cisco AnyConnect (VPN) credentials incorrectly before my account(s) gets locked?
Three (3) times.
- How many times can I enter my credentials incorrectly before I get locked out of Hitachi ID Password Manager?
Ten (10) times. Then you will need to wait 2 minutes before you can try again (but it is basically UNLIMITED).
- Can I unlock GRS using Hitachi ID Password Manager?
Yes. GRS uses your Windows credentials (Gemaire E-mail and Windows Password), which means that if you are having issues login in to GRS, most likely your Windows account is locked. Once you unlock your Windows account, you should be able to login to GRS.
- Can I unlock Cisco AnyConnect (VPN) using Hitachi ID Password Manager?
Yes. Cisco AnyConnect (VPN) uses your Windows credentials (Gemaire E-mail + Windows Password + Microsoft Authenticator combination) This means that if you are having issues login in to Cisco AnyConnect (VPN), most likely your Windows account is locked. Once you unlock your Windows account, you should be able to login to Cisco AnyConnect (VPN).
- When should I call the Help Desk if my account is locked?
Hitachi ID Password Manager is a self-service software, that allows all users to unlock their own accounts. If you need additional assistance using Hitachi ID Password Manager after reading the instructions, please contact your Manager or Supervisor.
